Maximize diet score, minimize calories when possible.\u00a0 Get there by pre-planning your day of eating.\u00a0 It looks as if a 30+ score (top is around 33) is achievable with around 1800-1900 cal when all the food is good food.\u00a0 That should maintain a bit of a deficit (and grow a little this month with some extra hours).\u00a0 I\u2019ll try to stick there.\u00a0 Weigh less than 183.2 (yesterday\u2019s weight) by the end of February.<\/p>\n<p><em>Huge ups on the DQ score.\u00a0 My diet is way cleaner than it&#8217;s ever been thanks to the double check if it&#8217;s plus or minus points on the scale.\u00a0 Huge boos to the weight.\u00a0 184.0 has been my lowest.\u00a0 Apparently eating the shit out of healthy food still doesn&#8217;t work.\u00a0 Noted.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>2. Volunteer at Austin Marathon (t-shirt exchange) Feb 16, cheer Feb 17.<\/p>\n<p><em>Check!\u00a0 Even got to cheer my friend Mariko to an overall win!\u00a0 Wheee!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>3. Have two days in Feb where I just veg most or all of the day.\u00a0 Quix-y needs some downtime!<\/p>\n<p><em>Sorta-check.\u00a0 Got one lay-in-bed-all-day day in early Feb, and had President&#8217;s Day off and relaxed most of the day, but got some stuff done that I wanted.\u00a0 I really have an issue just not doing shit lately.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>4. Get scuba licensed!<\/p>\n<p><em>We do our open water dives this weekend and then we are open water diver certified and can go diving on the cruise!\u00a0 (I am about 25% nervous and 75% excited for this weekend)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>5. Mend something on the sewing machine or make something simple.<\/p>\n<p><em>Check.\u00a0 I thought I was going to have to write this one off, as I spent an evening this week swearing like a sailor at my stupid goddamn fucking sewing machine and my own stupid ineptitude and the regression of me not even being able to make it make a stitch, but then Zliten helped me and we got it figured out and my Rookie shirt no longer has an armpit hole and it doesn&#8217;t even look that bad.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>6. Finish the sewing book, start a fiction book.<\/p>\n<p><em>Not check.\u00a0 Instead, I finished the Diving textbook that I didn&#8217;t expect to have to read, and have been working through the Sewing book slowly.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>7. Get living room set up with new furniture, organize DVDs and area around the TV, and the mantle (Feb\u2019s \u201czone\u201d).\u00a0 Determine whether painting and\/or rugs are necessary.<\/p>\n<p><em>Hmmmm.\u00a0 Living room is set up.\u00a0 Determined that I&#8217;m ok without paint for now.\u00a0 Also determined that I want red lampshades, a funky set of lamps, a red throw, and some pillows with primary colors to make the room a little more fun.\u00a0 However, I&#8217;m trying to hold off on spending that much right now, and while I&#8217;ve shopped online to get some inspiration, I&#8217;d rather buy something local.\u00a0 So, that&#8217;s on hold.\u00a0 The DVDs are on the list for this weekend.\u00a0 So&#8230; sorta!<\/em><\/p>\n<p>8. Keep up the things I did in Jan that I want to maintain, have a game night, no sweet treats (minus once a week), no cigs, HR train, batch cook.\u00a0 They are habits now, just dedicating this goal to keeping them up.<\/p>\n<p><em>All sorts of check check check here.\u00a0 Had 3 game nights.\u00a0 Have had very few sweet treats &#8211; I had two the first weekend to celebrate February (yogurtland and a rum truffle I got for Christmas), and one for v-day (split a piece of key lime pie).\u00a0 58 days no cigs.\u00a0 HR training for life.\u00a0 Batch cooking when we could, buying my fit foods or snap kitchen when we couldn&#8217;t.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>9. Make a training plan for Feb and nail each workout.\u00a0 Incorporate running and biking drills in this month.\u00a0 Incorporate a little gentle speed work in this month.\u00a0 Enjoy the hell out of my recovery week in 4 weeks.<\/p>\n<p><em>Check &#8211; minus the running drills.\u00a0 I did running speedwork only late this month because of my heel, but I&#8217;m getting down with it.\u00a0 Currently loving only having 5 hours of training on the schedule this week.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>10. Race the Indoor Tri 2\/24 and DO NOT GET DEPRESSED ABOUT THE RESULTS.\u00a0 I\u2019m talking to you \u2013 self!\u00a0 Last year, you were trained up for a half marathon+ and never lost fitness from the tri season.\u00a0 This year, you are just coming off two months of pure base building after a wonderful offseason.\u00a0 DO NOT GET PISSED BECAUSE YOU DIDN\u2019T BEAT EACH DISCIPLINE FROM LAST YEAR.\u00a0 Compare the results to last month\u2019s threshold tests rather than 2012.\u00a0 And if you beat last year\u2019s times, then fuck yeah!\u00a0 Either way, no tears and enjoy the first bottle of race champagne this year.<\/p>\n<p><em>Check.\u00a0 Not pissed at all about an overall win.\u00a0 The run speed will come.\u00a0 My better swim and bike speeds will only improve from here.\u00a0 I hurt myself and I liked it.\u00a0 Happy Quix is happy.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>11. Sign up for half of all the triathlons.\u00a0 Rookie, Pfluger, PlayTri, Couples, and Jack\u2019s.\u00a0 Next month we can drop a few more benjamins on the rest.<\/p>\n<p><em>We signed up for the whole TX Tri series.\u00a0 I need to hit up PlayTri and Buffalo Springs next month.\u00a0 Austin 70.3 I&#8217;m still not sure about so that will be later.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>12. Keep doing that confidence and forthcoming about what I want thing at work.\u00a0 Don\u2019t get devastated if it doesn\u2019t result in unicorns and rainbows right away.<\/p>\n<p><em>Done my best.\u00a0 It&#8217;s sort of in a holding pattern right now.\u00a0 Can&#8217;t really quantify this with a check or no check.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>13. Walk up and down the stairs every day with Zliten at break.\u00a0 It\u2019s good for me to get away from my desk.<\/p>\n<p><em>Not check.\u00a0 I tried to do this often, but when it was yucky outside or I got busy I wouldn&#8217;t do it.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Ok, onto March, one of my favorite months!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.folkingmetal.com\/pickors\/baby-emu.jpg\" width=\"197\" height=\"292\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s birthday time, we get daylight savings, and it marks the mental end of the cold dark times of Quix&#8217;s year.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s figure out the 13 things:<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0 Stick with my current strategy: approximately 1700 calories (shift up on days that my workout volume reaches the sky).\u00a0 DQ score: over 20 every day average.\u00a0 See if this results in any sort of loss.\u00a0 Low weight of the month: 184.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s get lower.\u00a0 Accept (and relish) that there will be 3 birthday splurges this month, and just try to mitigate them with good food the rest of the day\/week.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0 Get the leezard to the vet for a checkup.\u00a0 She&#8217;s overdue.\u00a0 We&#8217;re bad leezard parents.<\/p>\n<p>3. Bike outside once a week.\u00a0 Even if you have to do some rides outside after work in the &#8216;hood with stoplights.\u00a0 Ride Rosedale on March 23.\u00a0 Do it in way less than the 5+ hours it took last year.<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0 Fix up a March training plan.\u00a0 Nail it.\u00a0 Start working in zone 3 more, doing cruise intervals.\u00a0 Start doing some short all out force efforts.\u00a0 Get to recovery week uninjured and happy.<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0 Make pillows for the couch.\u00a0 This involves: going to the store, picking out fabric, sewing, and stuffing them.\u00a0 Complete at least one.\u00a0 Complete four for the gold star.<\/p>\n<p>6. Finish organizing the DVDs and complete the next zone in the house, the rest of the bedroom\/master bath\/vanity area.\u00a0 We&#8217;ve already half completed it with the new bedroom furniture, but this involves cleaning out and organizing the vanity area, linen closet area, and stuff in the master bath.\u00a0 Extra credit: replacing the bunk fixures and faucet.<\/p>\n<p>7. Finish the sewing book, start a fiction book, for reals.<\/p>\n<p>8. This one is for the habits again.\u00a0 No cigs, no sweets (minus planned splurges, no more than once a week), HR train, batch cook, have a game night.<\/p>\n<p>9.\u00a0 Find my zen in this month in small chunks.\u00a0 I do not have a weekend that I know of from now until vacation that&#8217;s not booked up with at least one event, most have several.\u00a0 Find some time to relax and veg out.\u00a0 Carve out a weekday night where all we do after work is go home and relax and say fuck responsibility instead of doing stuff.\u00a0 At least do what I did on Wednesday and say &#8220;though I have things to do, I am sitting on the couch and watching TV for an hour&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>10.
