hey, I love excuses to throw shindigs).\u00a0 Here is the spread.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Warning #1:<\/strong> If you&#8217;re hungry, you should probably come back.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Warning #2:<\/strong> I am decidedly NOT a food blogger.\u00a0 My pictures suck.\u00a0 Most things I actually used recipes for and modified very little (which is SO UNLIKE me), so I&#8217;ll give credit where I can.<\/p>\n<p>So, here we go&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Appetizers:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Veggies and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foodnetwork.com\/recipes\/alton-brown\/onion-dip-from-scratch-recipe\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">homemade onion dip<\/a>: self explanatory<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net\/hs072.snc3\/13956_180464029449_789139449_2684758_3561498_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"290\" height=\"162\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Homemade Lumpia: So not pretty, but so yummy.\u00a0 These were gone every time a batch came out.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/allrecipes.com\/Recipe\/Filipino-Lumpia-2\/Detail.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Recipe here<\/a>.\u00a0 We made some with pork, and some veggie for our veggie friends (and they were delicious both ways).\u00a0 We tried to fry them, but since we suck at wrapping them baking them was better (and healthier too so yay!).\u00a0 We served two dips with these, a homemade sweet and sour sauce and a spicy sesame soy and garlic reduction .\u00a0 I wish I could credit the sweet and sour sauce, but I have NO IDEA where it came from.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 small can pineapple juice (or juice from a 15-1\/4 oz. can pineapple chunks, drained)<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/4 cup ketchup<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/4 <span id=\"lw_1258578346_0\" class=\"yshortcuts\" style=\"background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 0%; cursor: pointer;\">cup brown sugar<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/4 cup vinegar<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1 1\/2 tablespoons cornstarch<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/2 teaspoon granulated garlic<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/4 teaspoon mustard powder<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\"><span id=\"lw_1258578346_1\" class=\"yshortcuts\" style=\"border-bottom: 1px dashed #0066cc; background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 0%; cursor: pointer;\">1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce<\/span> (or less)<\/li>\n<li class=\"ingredient\">1\/2 teaspoon ground ginger<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"rP\">Preparation:<\/h3>\n<p>Mix all together and cook over medium heat until thickened.<\/p>\n<p>The Spicy Sauce was simply made by sauteing the garlic with a little sesame oil, and then adding a bunch of less sodium soy sauce and chili sauce until it was a little less watery.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net\/hs072.snc3\/13956_180464044449_789139449_2684759_694342_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"290\" height=\"162\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Main Course:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Pork Ribs.\u00a0 Oh these were tasty.\u00a0 They were teriyaki-ish in flavor, but since Zliten did them, I&#8217;m not exactly sure what goes in them.\u00a0 They were gone about 10 minutes after I sliced them up.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net\/hs052.snc3\/13956_180464014449_789139449_2684757_4848502_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"290\" height=\"162\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Chicken Katsu &#8211; so bad for you but so awesome.\u00a0 I did these with the panko crumbs I won from Mara&#8217;s Blog!\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.grouprecipes.com\/88413\/japanese-chicken-katsu.html\" target=\"_blank\">Recipe here<\/a>.\u00a0 Normally I probably would have baked these for just me, but DAMN the panko was awesome fried.\u00a0 These went with katsu sauce (again, this must have come from somewhere but I don&#8217;t know where&#8230; however, I think this is pretty standard as it tasted EXACTLY like I remembered):<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">1\/2 cup <span id=\"lw_1258578537_6\" class=\"yshortcuts\" style=\"background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 0%; cursor: pointer;\">Worcestershire sauce<\/span><br \/>\n1\/4 cup ketchup<br \/>\n2 tablespoons <span id=\"lw_1258578537_7\" class=\"yshortcuts\">soy sauce<\/span><br \/>\npepper to taste<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net\/hs072.snc3\/13956_180465294449_789139449_2684772_6629655_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"290\" height=\"162\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Vegetarian Ramen, <a href=\"http:\/\/kidscooking.about.com\/od\/soupsandsalads\/r\/ramennoodlesoup.htm\" target=\"_blank\">recipe here<\/a>.\u00a0 This was devoured pretty quick by meaties and veggies alike.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net\/hs052.snc3\/13956_180464049449_789139449_2684760_5485898_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"290\" height=\"162\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Spicy Pina Colada Vegetarian Curry, from my brain.\u00a0 We served this with jasmine rice (not pictured). I put this together REALLY quick so I don&#8217;t have specific portions.\u00a0 Just make taste the sauce and make sure it&#8217;s ok.\u00a0 It&#8217;s probably ok.\u00a0\u00a0 I spiced this up with a BUNCH of rooster sauce, but a lot of people liked it mild.\u00a0 Not my favorite, and we had the most leftovers of this as anything, but I kept getting compliments.<\/p>\n<p>5 carrots<br \/>\n1 head cauliflower<br \/>\n1 can chick peas<br \/>\n1 large green pepper<br \/>\n1 bag of frozen peas<br \/>\n1 can of pineapple<br \/>\n1\/2 can of lite coconut milk<br \/>\n2\/3 jar of korma sauce<br \/>\nCilantro to taste<\/p>\n<p>Throw giant bag and marinate for a few hours.\u00a0 Then, toss in a wok or a big pan and cook on low for about 30 mins (or until the veggies are the right consistency).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net\/hs052.snc3\/13956_180464054449_789139449_2684761_8148634_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"290\" height=\"162\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sesame Ginger Salad &#8211; this one was more asain but OH WELL.<\/p>\n<p>Ass ton of mixed greens<br \/>\nSmall can of water chestnuts<br \/>\ncilantro to taste<br \/>\nOnions to taste<\/p>\n<p>Toss with pepper to taste, sesame ginger dressing (I use fat free newman&#8217;s own), and chow mein noodles.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net\/hs072.snc3\/13956_180465299449_789139449_2684773_2355227_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"290\" height=\"162\" \/><\/p>\n<p>My <a href=\"http:\/\/adjustedreality.com\/blog\/?p=941\" target=\"_blank\">awesome pasta salad<\/a>, which did not go with the theme but I care not.\u00a0 I wanted pasta salad, but couldn&#8217;t bring myself to make a mayo-y hawaiian type macaroni salad.\u00a0 No one complained.\u00a0 Mara &#8211; the extra utensils came in handy.\u00a0 I used EVERYTHING you sent except the chicken broth (and that doesn&#8217;t last too long around the Casa De Jank).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net\/hs052.snc3\/13956_180465309449_789139449_2684774_3704677_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"290\" height=\"162\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Desert:<\/p>\n<p>I knew everyone would be so full by then, so I didn&#8217;t put much effort into it.\u00a0 I made some key lime bars (from a box), and set out a fruit tray.\u00a0 The bars went quickly, but I&#8217;m enjoying the fruit leftovers this week as snackies.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/hphotos-snc3.fbcdn.net\/hs052.snc3\/13956_180465329449_789139449_2684775_7516375_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"290\" height=\"162\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m sad I didn&#8217;t get drinky pictures, but we served Mai Tais and Pina Coladas.\u00a0 These recipes were for the whole picture (not each, heh):<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mai tai<\/strong><br \/>\n2 shots light rum<br \/>\n2 shots dark rum<br \/>\n1\/2 shot lime juice<br \/>\n1 shot orange crack<br \/>\n1 shot orgeat syrup<br \/>\nfill blender with ice<br \/>\nCherry juice and cherry for garnish<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pina colada<\/strong><br \/>\n4 shots light rum<br \/>\n<span id=\"lw_1258580209_0\" class=\"yshortcuts\" style=\"background: transparent none repeat scroll 0% 0%; cursor: pointer;\">1\/2 cup coconut milk<\/span><br \/>\n1 cup pineapple<\/p>\n<p>It was a blast!\u00a0 I remember why I only do those parties so often now, it&#8217;s a lot of prep and work, but it was so worth it.\u00a0 I have a feeling the next one won&#8217;t be until around birthday time, so I&#8217;ll have to think of a good theme&#8230;
